Pearl Rice or Neang Khon Rice as in Khmer is one of the best white rice suitable for those who is looking for hard texture rice. Famous for its relatively hard texture and short grain like Japonica, It's the best sale product for domestic market, and most suitable for those who seek for rice to fry. Can be grown once a year, it's harvested on December and January with the average yield per hectare is 5 tons. This type of crop need less care from farmers due to its resistance to crop disease which allows the crop to survive in extreme conditions like temporary drought or flood.  The grain is big, short, transparent color and the average length is 6mm. To get the hard texture, we need to keep paddy for at least 7 months before it's sold in the market.
